Myofunctional Therapy

Myofunctional therapy is used to correct improper function of the tongue and facial muscles.  Our tongue, lips, and other muscles of the face, are intended to function in a certain way; however, when there is disfunction, often teeth and facial development (especially of a growing child) are adversely affected.  Those muscles can be trained to coordinate properly through the exercises provided by a myofunctional therapist.  As well as muscle re-training for proper function a myofunctional therapist works with individuals of all ages that have negative oral habits such as thumb sucking, nail biting or mouth breathing.
