Dr. Melanie Johnson Dentist

Melanie developed her interest in dentistry while in high school where she noticed her tendency to remember details about the smiles of people she interacted with. When she learned that was not quite “normal” she decided to pursue a career in dentistry. What Melanie finds so fulfilling about dentistry is that it is a unique blend of elements from various disciplines such as science, fine arts, mathematics, all of which she has an affinity for. However, it’s the interaction with people that makes dentistry the most rewarding for her. For many people, being in a dental chair is not a comfortable thing, but by cultivating relationships of trust with her patients, Melanie hopes to create a more positive dental experience for them. Melanie grew up on the Westside of Kelowna. She earned her Bachelor of Science from Okanagan University College. From there Melanie went to the University of Albert to pursue her dental studies. While in dental school Melanie met and married Rob. She worked in Morinville, AB for a year before moving to Salmon Arm. Melanie divides her time between working and raising her and Rob’s three young children.

MICHELLE: CERTIFIED DENTAL ASSISTANT

Michelle has been with the practice nearly as long as Dr. Melanie.  Her work ethic could be described as meticulous, detailed and thoughtful and it is because of those traits she has thrived in the dental field.  To go along with her amazing work ethic is her great personality.  As the focus of our dental practice began to expand to include overall  health and wellness Michelle has been a large supporter of that change and has an invested belief in these philosophies.  Michelle has been in the dental field for 28 years and it is because she is so motivated to learn new things that she still finds the profession so rewarding. Michelle originally hales from the East coast of Canada but grew up mainly in Alberta.  She lived in Langley before settling in Sorrento with her husband and two kids. With her family Michelle enjoys hiking, skiing and camping.

NIKKI: CERTIFIED DENTAL ASSISTANT

Nikki brings a really great energy and attitude to Johnson Dental.  Her outgoing personality and sense of humor makes her a pleasure to be around.  Nikki loves her job and how it allows her to get to know more about our patients and our community.  She has been in the dental field since 1992 where she started as a dental assistant.  During the course of her career Nikki has worked in receptionist positions and has obtained certification in orthodontic assisting.  She also volunteers her time with the BC Forensic Odontology Society.  
Nikki is originally from Prince George and from there she moved to Abbotsford.  In 2012 Nikki and her husband and two boys moved to Armstrong.  She loves to call the sunny Okanagan home.  When not working Nikki enjoys gardening and being active in the community attending various local events.  When the weather is nice you might even see her out on the open road on her motorcycle.
